Dear Sir, a American citizen laze of the city of Mexico, a Civil Engineer by profession named J.G.K Christian says that whilst at the city of Mexico and in the employ of the Imperial Court. He this the acquaintance of one the ladies of the court had access to the Palace, and (if this statement is correct) may be of interest to you to know; and if found to be as states might have a powerful influence in removing the prejudices if the civilized world, so ready to make of Maximilian a martyr… that Maximilian was untrue to his wife; and keeping a woman who he called the Lady of Guanajuato…".
